Finals, Spring 2012

Here’s how I survived Finals, Spring 2012 (If you have any desire for prints, re-use, etc. please notify me. Being my photography, I own the rights, and do not want anything reproduced without my permission.):

Tani quickly realized I was going to spend 90% of my awake time at my desk, ignoring her, so she survived by spending a lot of time snoring on my lap as I studied. When she wasn’t on my lap, she was on a decoy paper I had on my bed (as in a sheet of paper I WASN’T using for studying).

Speaking of Tani, I had dreamed up a project that would prevent her from sitting on my alarm clock, changing the volume, etc. I wasn’t going to actually complete it during finals time, but I was antsy one day, and got ‘er done.

One of the evenings when I was simply sick of studying I took a quick break to head over to Old City Cemetery, in hopes there would be raindrops of roses, since it had just showered. I was in luck.

This wasn’t my only trip to Old City Cemetery – another day I went in hopes of swinging. Again, I was in luck!

When the two weeks of torture were finally OVER my roommate and I treated ourselves to pedicures.

The sunset tonight wrapped up these past two weeks in a beautiful way.

I am so glad finals are DONE and I am free for the summer.

Now I’m off to catch a late movie at the dollar theater!

Beginning to feel the weight.

Finals are approaching, and I’m beginning to feel the weight of the pressure of 4 tests worth 100% of my grade… Blech.

Good news is three weeks from today I’ll be 24 hours into summer break.

Bad news is three weeks from today I’ll be 24 hours into summer break.

I am not near ready for my exams. A lot of information has to be crammed into my brain before the 2nd, 4th, 9th, and 11th.

I’m kind of feeling like this cat:

Yep. I’m a little freaked out.

Fortunately, it has been a super productive weekend and I even managed to spend a little time outside at the Law School’s annual Softball Social. When I came home my roommate said, “Man your arms are tan!!! Especially compared to your legs.” Thanks?

Here’s what I brought to the potluck:

Dirt Pudding! Ever law student needs a little bit of childhood every once and a while. It’s easy-peasy – just make pudding, crush some oreos, and bury some (gummy) worms.

Now I think I’m going to go make some Fluffy Banana Chocolate Chunk Cupcakes.

If this is my last post until after finals – do not despair. I’m come back after I return from my hole studying my brains full of information – pray for my survival.

PS – Just because I love her:

Barristers Banquet 2012

Last night was our Barristers Banquet (AKA Law School Prom without the dance). Everyone looked gorgeous, and it was four hours of lots of laughs (and good food).

The 3L’s put on quite the program, complete with creative videos and hilarious impersonations. The guest speaker was General Suter, the current clerk for the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a great man of God and had lots of good stories from SCOTUS and also from his time in the service. (He retired as Major General when he began clerking at the Supreme Court in 1991.)

It was a beautiful evening!

The life of a law student on a Friday night.

It’s 10:00 on a Friday night. What am I about to do, you ask? Well, let me give you a quick glimpse into the life of a law student….

I’m getting ready to read for Monday. To make my life a little more exciting, I’m giving myself the option of researching for our first big assignment of the semester, but one or the other is getting done tonight.

I’ll be the first to admit, school regularly dominates my weekends. Knowing our grades are riding on one exam at the end of the semester puts a little fire in my pants to do my work now. It may not be glamorous, but it is well worth it.

Now, considering I DO like to sleep, and have to work in the morning, I better get cracking.

Good night!

PS – Tomorrow I’m going to post about the Dominican Republic. Get excited. Here’s a photo to help.
